Ruston Community Theatre, with corporate partner Jonesboro State Bank, is pleased to announce auditions for the upcoming show Willy Wonka, Jr, directed by Steele Moegle. With words and music by Leslie Bricuuse and Anthony Newley, adapted for stage by Leslie Bricusse and Timothy A. McDonald, this scrumdiddlyumptios musical is based on the novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl featuring songs from the beloved 1971 movie. The show dates will be June 25-29.
There is no chocolatier like the whimsical and enigmatic Willy Wonka! After years of secrecy, the doors of his wondrous chocolate factory will be opened to the finders of five golden tickets hidden in Wonka bars. Against all odds, impoverished Charlie Bucket is among the lucky children allowed entrance. During the tour, four of the children suffer unfortunate consequences due to their awful behavior and bad habits. Will Charlie persevere to the end, and what reward will await him if he does?
The audition dates are Saturday, April 11 at 10 AM, and Monday, April 13 at 6 PM, at The MARC of RCT (504 E Georgia Ave.) in Ruston. Auditioners should prepare 16-32 bars of music to sing, and a 60 second monologue to perform from memory. Alternatively, instead of a memorized monologue, participants can read from an excerpt from the script provided at the audition.
